1956 Leica MP # 241 for sale on ebay

That's my dream camera there.
The last time I saw one was at a camera shop in Ginza, Tokyo selling for what looked like 2,500,000 Yen. That would be somewhere around 25k$ at that time. Next sighting was just the original MP case at a shop here in Seoul, I don't remember how much the shop keeper wanted buy it was somewhere in the $1000 range. Everything about the MP is expensive. Good thing viewing the pictures on the auction site is free.

Incredible!

I am pretty sure that this amazing camera will not be used for shooting but will live a sad life in a cabinet!

Wow that case is pretty rare!

I don't know I'd have this one taken apart and verified by Jim Lager before I'd put a cent down on it, it has to be verified, while the chrome ones could so easily be of one of those Midland-Canada MP fakes that were made in the 1980's and then passed around the Leica community, the number #241 just seems to be a number I remember seeing before?

These cameras are while not easy to fake, have been faked, due to a bunch of non-stamped original MP tops and Leicavit M bottoms falling into the hands of a very suspicious greedy ex-Leica repairman........etc. etc.

Tom

P.S. If it's a real one, it should bring close to $90,000 to $100,000 easy.

It's crazy it's at such a high price and they didn't even open up the bottom to show the matching numbers, perhaps they don't have anyone in the store they trust enough to unscrew anything.

Calumet is a respected business, plus they have a money back guarantee.

I wonder how much they got it for.
