This is an incredibly unique Leica build that combines the best of modern ergonomics and optics along with the classic Leica feel that the M4 is well known for. The most significant upgrade is the rangefinder, which contains all of the optical components of an M9 0.68x unit transferred into the original rangefinder chassis of an M4. You get all of the benefits of modern multicoated anti-reflective prisms, plus an anti-flare MP mask unit. The result is a completely flare-free bright and contrasty finder + focus patch on par with the modern MP. The benefit of 0.68x magnification (as opposed to 0.72x) is that it is easier to shoot lenses up to around 28mm, and those with glasses find it much easier to shoot and compose frames due to the eye relief.

The framelines available on this camera are 28mm/35mm/50mm. I have chosen to remove the telephoto framelines so that each composition area is completely uninterrupted. Despite the small difference, those used to the standard 0.72x magnification will still feel comfortable shooting this platform.

This camera also features a hotshoe conversion, and the unit is from a company called yhwhy.design that manufactures hotshoes specifically for this camera. This opens up a whole new world of flash photography for this M4. The conversion is non-destructive and the original cold shoe is included in this kit, if ever you prefer a more traditional look. The vulcanite on the body shell is original and the patch on the rear door is cowhide. There are bright marks on the top cover and signs of use throughout, yet it is overall a clean camera. This camera is just broken in enough to not worry about using it to its full potential.

In my humble opinion, the M4 is the best classic era Leica produced. You get a camera that was handmade in Germany, with rigorous quality control checks, and built with the best materials available. The M4 is faster and more accurate to load than its predecessors, since it uses Leica's quick-load spool system. It is fully mechanical, with brass internal components that are durable, and with the right amount of servicing, can run for generations. You are able to shoot 35mm lenses without goggles, unlike the M3, and don't have to worry about resetting your counter, unlike the M2. It is a camera that, for almost sixty years, has been tested in almost all environments and is yet to fail.

This is the full text since I'm not sure this link will work: Leica M4 Custom Hot Shoe + MP Finder

I am personally unconvinced of the wisdom of this conversion but I thought I would pass the ... option ... along to the rest here. I find myself quite satisfied with my 240, thank you very much 😉

Too bad there are no photos of the camera and the link doesn't work...

If you put M9 rangefinder parts into an M4 you get a 0.72 magnification finder - the decreased magnification in the M9 is the result of the increased depth of the body. Not all the parts are interchangeable, either.

Sorry, but this makes zero sense.

* Exchanging a .72 mag finder for a .68 effectively shortens the RF base length making it harder to focus with a fast lens wide open.
* The original M4 already has the "MP" condenser or "anti-flare MP mask unit". The condenser was removed into the M4-2 production and put back in beginning with the MP. I've never heard of anyone having flair issues with an M4.
* It doesn't take a rocket scientist to convert an M4 cold shoe to a hot shoe. All you need is the parts. DAG has done the conversion for me in many occasions.

What am I missing here?

BTW, it would have been nice to see a picture of the camera; the link doesn't have any such camera so it must have been sold.
