1957 Canon 35 3.5... Distortion?

I don't think you are referring to the Serenar. I'm not big into lenses but I think mine is a 1953. If you want to see some photos from it let me know. After your last post I remembered my Super-Takumar 28mm f 3.5 which I always loved. I found it to have little if any distortion, but it does have some vignetting (which I like very much). Anyway, I just shot off 5 shots with it but they won't be developed for a while.

Here is one (28mm):

Hi John,
Yes, there's another 35 3.5 after the Serenar...
My 28 3.5 is linear enough too, tiny, and my most used lens, also with a bit of vignetting I enjoy in every shot, no matter if there's sky... I just find it photographic.
Thank you!
Cheers,
Juan

You started this with a distortion thread a week ago. I wonder if faster f stops require more distortion. I have a f 6.3 65mm Mamiya for my Super 23. And this lenses doesn't appear to have any distortion. Like I said I don't know very much about lens design.

The distortion here is from shooting upwards, but the lines are straight.

I can't speak to the 35/3.5, but my example of the Canon 35/2.8 is pretty distortion-free. The 3.5 is a Tessar design, while the 3.2 and the 2.8 are double Gauss arrangements. The 3.2 can sometimes be found pretty cheap.

I'll see if I can dig up a good sample from the 2.8.
