Here are a few photos from new GSN. I used XP2. Some of the photos came out like a little sepia & others seem fine. Any ideas what happened? I had them processed at Eckerd Drugs.
Thanks,
Brad

The prints are made on colour paper, or they are being digitally printed by a colour printer, and the colour balance is slightly off. Drug Stores and supermarkets do not use B+W paper.

I never have chromogenic film printed at a mini lab. As mentioned, the paper is color paper and most of the labs don't bothere to use a grayscale channel.

I take my film to the drugstore lab and ask that they develop the film and can the images to a CD in TIFF format. TIFF is important here or else you'll get tiny file sizes. Even then, the images will be in a color channel, so when I download them from the CD, and process them in Photoshop, I convert the image to grayscale (image>mode>grayscale). I then go to (image>adjust>levels) and adjust each level (black, gray and white) until I get what I want.

Other image processing programs may work differently.

However, YOU did nothing wrong. It's like working in a wet darkroom. YOU have control over your images and their quality when doing digital imaging.

Enjoy the experience.

Next time make sure they print them in bandw mode on their machine if they say their machine does not have that setting go to someone else to have your film processed cause xp2 should come out just fine on color paper espeacilly crystal archive

XP2 is designed to be printed on black and white paper. Print the negatives yourself or take them somewhere that will use black and white paper.

um, nice pics but your only mistake was going to Eckerd Drugs to process them. seeing where youre located you may not have a pro lab near you. There are places you could mail your film out to if you search around. WHCC in California for one. Ever processed your own?

My main purpose of going to eckards was for convience to see how the camera was working. My plan is to start developing my own. Just waiting on a friend to get back form the Keys to see if he can find my darkroom equipment! I gave it to him almost 20yrs ago!
