I apologize if this has already been discussed, but most of the threads I found were focused on the benefits for M8.

Is there any reason why you would apply this update on an M8.2, other than to keep the camera up to date? Are there any improvements other than the discreet mode and 6 bit code support for new lenses?

I've seen people suggesting white balance or high ISO improvements - any of this confirmed?

Well, you'll get lens recognition for the four new lenses...,plus:
Each time there is a firmware update people claim that high ISO is (vastly) improved. There are a number of possible reasons:
1. Placebo effect
2. Because they are "testing" people expose more care fully
3. Conditioned by internet forums users tend to forget that it is actually rather good/ not too bad and rediscover this fact.
4. Leica is actually improving the ISO performance in small increments and is not telling. I have a feeling that happened on 2.002.
Having said that, whatever the reason, I tried it out again last night and it was quite good at 2500. About the same as the 5DII at 3200 - and the D 700 at 25.600..:D

Thanks. I decided to upgrade this weekend. I'll probably make some test shots before & after and see if the ISO performance has been improved.
