2.1cm Nikkor O on the F3

Phil, not to butt in again, but I fooled around briefly with this lens and my D800 and D700. In both cameras it impacts the AF sensor well in the bottom of the mirror box, and it scrapes along the edge of the box as well. It wouldn't be a matter of just adding the tab.

Any reason why you really, really want to use this lens on digital??

Because of the challenge. It's an amazing lens with very unique properties and nothing like it is available today aside from large format non-retrofocal lenses. There isn't a lens for a 35mm camera which is as well corrected for distortion as these old optics.

I had a feeling the shutter on a digital would be too thick. As for the AF sensor, I saw that narrowing in my D3. Not to worry, there's always film.

I get a meter reading from the F3 with the lens mounted and that's what I want. I can dial in exposure compensation and use the lens in aperture priority mode just like the trick of using the Super Angulon on the M8/9.

A less expensive approach would be to use the Canon FD 17/4 without any negative side effects. Food for thought.

Totally agree. I do really like the lens. It's fun, small, and excellent. I really like it adapted to my Nikon SP or Leica M6. Too bad it doesn't meter whatsoever with my M6. I mean it does, but the "correction" needed seems to change based on the angle of light so it isn't worth it to try to "guess" the exposure compensation. Not hard to use a meter or figure out the exposure though.

My next experiment to try is using my Nikon 16mm f/3.5 AI Fisheye on the M6, ha!
