2 bodies - B&W and Color

Lets say you have B&W 400 ISO in body #1 and you have a "backup", should you just keep same film as in #1 body for your "backup"?

Another the same. MUCH easier to use two identical bodies -- though preferably one black, one chrome.

If you like the idea of two bodies of the same model I suggest another ZI. As far as I remember yours is silver, so a black one would be nice in my eyes.

If roughly the same would be sufficient, a Bessa is always a good idea. I would suggest the most versatile and consider the R2A as - again as far as I remember - you have 35, 50 and 90 as focal lenghts.

yeah, that is where I am leaning. The ZI is just so nice.

My recent behaviour: The same film (Color negative 200/400) in all cameras. If one picture seems to be better in B&W, I desaturate it after scanning.

Fully agree with the idea of two identical bodies; this makes switching from one to the other more fliud and second-nature. If you must have variety, then yes, have one in black and the other chrome.

This is the reason I have both bodies loaded with the same film. I shoot color differently from how I shoot b/w; I even see a bit differently, if you catch my meaning. With two identical bodies with the same film, only different lenses, I only think about the image, and the desired POV. The fewer distractions, the better.

As your ZI is fantastic with the 35, I would not do badly in recommending the M3 for your 50+ FLs. You can get user-condition M3s for a good deals, too. The M3 and your 50/1,5 will love one another ;D

I'm about to carry two bodies for the first time on an outing.
One with color film, the other with slide film.

...just because I'm chicken about shooting slides and I don't want to risk wasting the outing.

I load my Barnacks (IID, IIIc) with black and white - Kodak 400CN. I've only run one roll of colour through, and it just didn't feel right. 99% of the time I only carry one. My Ms (M2 and M7) are usually loaded with colour, although this weekend I am off to Seville, and will put 400CN in the M2 and Reala 100 in the M7 and carry both.

Even different formats dont seem to be justified for my case. I took a rolleiflex and a hexar af (35mm lens) with me last time, for a distant trip, to end up with 25 medium format rolls and 3 small ones.

No, i don't do black-and-white and colour in separate bodies.

If you manage to do something coherent with 1 BW and the other COLOR, that's great and go for it.
But in my use, the serie has to be tight, coherent, have a link that the melting of the two won't disturb.

That's why I go with M3 & 50mm and M6/MP with 28mm and, both in COLOR or both in BW

Absolutely not.

As I said, 99% of the time I only carry one body. It's only on a trip - like this weekend - when I will carry two bodies.

In day to day photography, I prefer B+W for almost all of my photography, but sometimes a scene presents itself and will only work, or will work much better in colour.

Another reason for B+W and colour, is the family photo album and vacation memories. I cannot make , and they are al done in 2 days, quite economicallyall these record shots as B+W prints. Too much time. I let the drugstore do that for me in colour.

Then, in addition, there are those scenes which call out for the B+W detail and tonality that only MF (or larger) can provide. Vacations therefore require at least 3 cameras. Then, add a Fujica GS645W for wide angle MF, and a dedicated Bessa L body for the CV21, and now we're at 5 cameras for vacations.

I do this on occasion, but more often have all the bodies I have with me with one or the other- and usually the same film at that. I switch back and forth pretty regularly, my 'everyday' camera has Fuji 400H in it now, had Neopan 400 last. Depends on the weather.

I carry two M6 bodies, one silver and one black, one with a 50mm Summicron, one with a 35mm Summicron. Usually I just use HP5+ in both but sometimes I use FP4+ in one. I've never shot color film in either camera. If I shoot color these days, it's on digital.
