2 ZI on the way :)

I also think that you can own the 50 mm Planar and C-Sonnar side-by-side. For me, what tipped the scales towards starting with the Planar was actually the min. focus distcance (0.7 m vs. 0.9 m on the Sonnar).

That being said, it doesn't mean that I will never get the Sonnar. Quite on the contrary, I will eventually need a 2nd body, and here in Germany, they basically give away the Sonnar for €100 extra with the body, so who could pass on that?

ZI + C Sonnar = ZI + 100 Euro??

In which shop?

Sorry, it seems my info was outdated.

It used to be something like 1400 € for the body only, and 1500 € for the body plus Sonnar, in several shops.

in the meantime, most shops have brought the price for the body down to more realistic levels, making the distance larger...

Some examples...
fotologisch.de lists the body at 1348 €, the combo at 1588 €.
AFA.de lists the body at 999 €, the combo at 1499 €.

I had both at the same time.

I forced myself to give up the Planar as a precondition for getting a 75 summicron. The planar made some lovely images. But 75 is a special focal length (for me).

In regards to the OP, given his lens outfit, I would need at least one additional lens with an aperture of f/1.5 or larger. Since he appreciates ZM lenses so much, that leaves only the C Sonnar.

Why not 2 x ZI and a M6. I dont have a M9 but I do shoot primarily with a MP and a couple of M6s. I don't think you are crazy, after all, how else would you have redundancy and the ability to carry different focal lengths ready to go? To do this with M9s would be rather expensive.

That's interesting... A ZI + ZM Sonnar would cost us about 2,600 € over here. You wonder how we can ever afford to do photography in the UK.

Though I do like Frances's 50 Summarit.

While I do not know Frances' version, I do like mine a lot. It is truly an underrated lens. I guess it doesn't fulfill the snob factor for most Leica users since it is "cheap." Super tiny, short focus throw, and the Leica look... nice.

That would be when I win the lottery next time :D I would love to have 3 M9 hanging from my neck :D

But you're right, I'm not going to sell the M6 so soon, as long as my financial situation allows.

Makes me recall photos of Eisenstadt with several M-bodies hanging from his neck on different length straps, each with a different focal length lens mounted, ready-to-go. Who needs bags when you can do M necklaces?

I received today the black body. I'm really impressed. This camera is very elegant, and dare I say, sexy :D

While the M6 looks and feels like a Panzer, the ZI feels more delicate and refined. I love it already :)
