Georgia 2011 RFF Meet-Atlanta

Gaining momentum...

Gaining momentum...

Maybe we can make this a regional RFF meeting due to the strategic location of Atlanta.
Car pooling makes lots of sense too. You can share gas cost.

Dave, thanks for the post. Shoot, exhibit and meal together on a Saturday would be a blast. The weather starts warming up come March (better for shooting; more going on), so just about any weekend could be possible (except Easter of course). As for sharing my GAS costs, that would be a dream come true.

That's a good idea. I will check out flights and the fare.

edit: For mid-March: $155 roundtrip

WOW........this sounds like a great event! I live 20 min from the airport and can PU folks. Also, our transit system runs right out of the airport to much of the town.

I can put up one person or a couple. We have a house just east of downtown. Must like, cats, dogs, yankees, land cruisers and tattoos :)

Any weekend works for me except April 3/4. I will be in NO at a darkroom class.

We need to go ahead and decide on a date rather soon as Sat tickets to HCB could very well sell out. Most larger shows are timed entrance so we need to nail down some details within a week or so. I would be a giant cluster if we all got different admission times!

I will check around towna nd see what is going on outside of HCB for shooting opportunities.

April is a fantastic time in Georgia with the Masters, Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Georgia Renaissance, Botanical Gardens, etc.

Just checked the calendar and the Dogwood Festival is right around the corner on April 15, 16, and 17.... not sure if that would be a problem with getting around but if we get our reservations early then it would be an opportunity to out-of-towners to visit either on Friday or Sunday. I will work on lodging recommendations and such.

So, how about Saturday, April 16? Rain or shine?

Here will be a recommendation lodging/accommodations list for the 2011 Atlanta Meet. If you will please send me your own recommendations by PM, I will edit the list upon receipt.

I will start out with my first recommendation. Serenbe Inn 20 minutes south of Atlanta. Serenbe is a small artist community and has an Inn on the property in a rural setting. They have artists living and working within the village and they have artist shows during the year which are well-attended. April 16 appears to be a quiet weekend.

4. Brian Godfrey - as long as it's OK for my wife to tag along and shoot a DSLR

Spouses, SO's, family, friends are welcome. It is a proven fact that Spring time in Atlanta is both a romantic and fun setting, so the more the merrier! With or without a rangefinder! SLR's are great.;)

I will also consider making it a day trip.
I used to drive at least once each year from Pensacola to Atlanta to buy photography books since there was no good bookstore in Pensacola at the time.
