Taking a little break during the holidays has given me new insight into my process. Most specifically, that the way I've been working only produces a certain kinds of photographs and is massively inhibiting my growth.
I want more than that. Once I get back out I will expand my methodology 🙂

3. Get more stuff printed 🙂 (I only made 7 prints this year and 4 were tests 😱 , though I did give one to a friend for Christmas)

4. Get a film scanner and digitze all my old 35mm negs (that's going to take until 2014 or so... 🙄)

Thanks, Heart cath in a couple weeks. I want to start riding my bike again, soon. I am on light duty now. I hope my rehab will be walking the streets with a camera.

- improve my skills/technique and grow as a "photographer". (still not sure if i even qualify for such a title)
- stop buying new cameras and perfect using the ones i have.
- perfect scanning negatives & using Vuescan.
- get my photography/art site up & running.

Achieved the last year:
- Get comfortable developing and scanning decent negatives. I've hit the point where my developing abilities aren't a bottleneck at all for me. I'd been on the verge of it for a while but found refined the development processes I use for my primary types of film to the point where I'm happy.
- Sort out the digital processing side. Trying to stay totally legal, I took up GIMP and purchase VueScan. Gimp was fairly simple for the basic processing I did but VueScan took a while. I think I have my b&w and color workflows down now though color is still hit and miss.
- Learn large format. Unfortunately I wasn't able to travel as much as I'd hoped and for me, a 4x5 is primarily a landscape camera right now. I'm still working on this.
Next year:
- Start wet printing again. I haven't done this since high school but want to get back in to it. My plan had been to print in the winter when there was no light but I forgot that my garage - my darkroom - is really cold in the winter. Still need to sort this out.
- Simplify. I've gone through a lot of cameras figuring out what worked the best for me. I need to continue simplifying; selling cameras/lenses I don't use, sorting out any unreliable gear I do use, etc. I also need to come clean with myself being being a collector in some limited ways.
- Wrap up some repair projects. I've got way too many running at any given time and am too prone to picking up old projects and trying to improve them. Decided when I'm done and move on.
- Figure out how to make time for shooting. I put in a lot of hours at work last year. A lot of next year will be the same. This makes getting out and taking photos difficult. I need to balance this better.

So is believing in a higher power, but it's the norm in most cultures.
But I see your point. Hoping for something to change for the better is mostly wishful thinking, like believing that a new camera will make you a better photographer...
...as I wait blissfully for a new 4x5 Shen Hao.

Print more - wet! Also, I want to do at least one serious project. Not sure what at the moment, but I want to focus on something for a while instead of just shooting.

1. Reduce the number of cameras that I have: a choice has to be made between Olympus, Nikon and Canon FD for film SLRs
2. Use and develop one roll of film per month
I have more aspirations, but think that (1) and (2) should be enough for one year.

Trius: I applaud your lack of sentimentality, but don't know what to do with your comment. It presumes that you know what function the resolution serves in the mind of the resolver. If the resolution is just something that one says about oneself in a moment of examination or aspiration, how is that divorced from reality?
For instance, if you phrased your resolution in this way: "In the new year, I hope to make 10 excellent images," what does that tell you except that the wisher/resolver has a particular hope for his future?
Similarly, if another RFF'er expresses a hope for himself in a novel or creative way that would not have occurred to me but for sharing ideas here, how is that divorced from reality?
Help me out here.

Make ilfochromes at home. I shoot mostly slide and I hear that ilfochromes are worlds better than my Coolscan/Epson R1900 combo.

I´m gonna start developing color films at home. Done the reeding and watch youtube videos now I just have to start myself 😎
