Hi everybody,

I would buy a viewfinder in order to use my Voigtlander 15mm on the R-D1.
The D version is rare (or very expensive) in France, so I would choice a 21mm or a 25mm viewfinder; but wich one?

What's your personal experience?

Thanks in advance!

21 is closest to the 22.5 equivalent of the 15 on the R-D1. I suppose it could include slightly too much in the framelines; but I'm guessing not, since most framelines are made a little too small anyway. Probably it would be fairly accurate at infinity, and not too far off at medium distances. Close range could be another story. For me and the way I shoot, I think I would use a 21 finder.

No, I don't think so. I have the 25mm CV finder, and it has only the one set. I think the 21 finder has only the 21mm framelines.

If you are working in very close, then the 25mm frameline should be safer, to make sure you get in the picture everything you saw in the finder.

Get the Voigtlander metal finder (ver. II), it's for both 21mm and 25mm.

I use the old Contax G 21 finder. It has a center crosshair that I find very helpful for keeping horizons level as well as for framing reference. It never failed with the rd1 and serves well now with the m8 as well. I do have the 25mm finder. It does nit represent the 15mm perspective as well as the 21mm. Even with the crop the 15 is very wide.
