I put my 21mm f2.8 ASPH on the M8, mounted on a tripod, aimed at my garage doors, and looked very carefully through the viewfinder, and determined (technically, at least) that the viewfinder itself may be a tiny, tiny bit larger than the view with a 21. When I say technically, I was moving my eye around at angles to look through the viewfinder; handheld, you about have to intuit what the viewfinder shows, and whatever it shows, that's about what you'll get with the 21. (In other words, if you're shooting a vertical of the Eiffel Tower with a 21, and put the very tip of the tower at the very top edge of the frame, you should get the tip; but if your hand shakes, you may not.)
What this means to me is that I won't need an external viewfinder for my 21.
