21mm Elmarit on CLE

It may do so, but it doesn't really matter. You'll be using an auxilary finder for framing and scale focussing is fine on a 21 anyway so you'll never use the rangefinder.

The Zeiss 21mm/2.8 Biogon ZM is longer and narrower (46mm filter thread) than the Leica 21mm lenses, so it might be a better option physically with narrow RF base cameras like the Leica CL, Minolta CLE and the Voigtländer Bessas. Optically it's better than the 21mm Elmarit-M, and perhaps better even than the 21mm Elmarit-M ASPH. I love mine.

It is true that in alot of circumstances scale focus would be sufficient but close up its nice to still being able to pinpoint focus. For the money of one secondhand its a feature to consider none the less.
