21mm Super angulon 3.4 bokeh question

Usually I use this lens stopped down, so it is hard to find anything out of focus due to the large depth-of-filed (is "large" the correct term to use opposite to "shallow" ?) but here are two examples taken at f/3.4:

TomA can surely do ! 🙂 I think he favors the CV 21mm as a more modern lens while the SA is more suitable for the 60s BW look.

If you want a nice bokeh, I think you need to look at faster lens. Zeiss 21/2.8 (I know it's not what you asked, but wanted to toss it into the mix anyway) has a nice look to it wide open:

You cant really see much bokeh with a 21mm anyway, why bother. The only difference between this and the modern 21s is contrast.

Well, yes and no. You will not get same bokeh as with CV35/1.2 or canon 50/1.2, but you can have some still - If you have a faster lens - you can see some bokeh, - see my post above. Plus I'm sure that new Leica Summilux 21/1.4 has plenty of bokeh. 😉
Here is some bokeh at 2.8 with 21mm lens:

I wish that I'd shot some 21/3.4 S.A. pix of the miniskirted girls walking by when I was sitting at that outdoor cafe on South Miami Beach last week. They'd be so much easier on the eyes than pictures of snow covered houses. I feel cold just looking at them!

Al, I think you HAVE to go back and take those pics and post them here! But no bokeh, please - stop that lens down! 😉

No, it was some print film - I was running a test roll in a Hexar RF I just got at that time to see how it works, so it was some store brand film.

Another option - Kobalux 21mm/2.8

Another option - Kobalux 21mm/2.8

Kobalux 21/2.8 on an R-D1s. Just got this in the mail a couple of hours ago... so I decided to set up a test shot. This is wide open at minimum focus ditance (1m). No, that's not severe vignetting on top -- It's just the angle that the afternoon sunlight comes in through the window.
