21mm Super Angulon

I've used my 3.4 version on a film M body for many happy years now. Is there a list somewhere that shows what digital bodies can be used with this lens? Fuji says they cannot, but I've read anecdotally that Sony can. Any others, besides Leica?

I really never should have sold my SA 21/3.4 (it went to a fellow named Simon in the UK, black lens and finder...) but I was raising money to fund my now-bust business, would love to still own that SA, they are amazing...

on 'Flickriver'
I put Sony A7 and 21 Super Angulon , there came up lots of photos
so that is One Camera the SA works with

Try putting your cameras of interest with the 21 and see

Yes, You are correct, Fuji does not seem to work with Miss SA

Good idea! Thanks.

These are some of my photos from my trip to to Oregon from LA. On this trip I decided to ask my friend if I could borrow his 21mm for it. He was nice enough to loan it to me and that is the only lens I used for the trip. I found it to be perfect for a long camping trip and spending a lot of time in a tent. Here are a some.

Leica M4-2 + 21MM

Fantastic shots on this Page...

hats off to the all the 21 SA shooters ~

Thank You Matt !

Yay!

Helen, it's been a difficult few months. Now you made me take the 21SA out of the box, dust off the M4, check the TriX freezer stocks, clean and make space for the Focomat, notice that the SA likely projects into and makes the 262 M-D meter misread, take out the Lunasix, start up the Cornerfix again, take a few test shots and decided to use it in monochrome only on the M-D for practice and then switch to M4. Invigorated now and that is why I like RFF!
Thank you Helen!
PS. And it even close up focuses to 40cm, how good is that on M!

Hah, always good to find Inspiration
Lovely to have indulged You !

Although I Differ with You on one subject : ‘cornerfix’
Would never even think about it ...
I primarily shoot B&W , so don’t worry about purple fringing
and simply ADORE ‘vignetting’ ,
What the 21 SA does Supreme

Post some photos please be it digi or film
with Miss SA ... Cheers & Best

21 3.4 need F8 to get rid of vignetting. I had a brand new one around 1985 and kept it a very short time. Bought the 21 2.8 pre asph which I still have.

Also still have pics on LR wall from the 3.4 made to 16x20 so it ok from 8 or 11, I forget which.

Forgive me if I've repeated similar thoughts in previous responses to this post, but back in the day when I used Leica M and shot primarily slides, the ZM 21/4.5 blew the 21/3.4 out of the water. Not only was it sharper across the board (especially off axis) but fall off was negligible even wide open. Other than the metering issue, the biggest drawback of the SA and similar designs (early Zeiss Contax and Nikon 21/4.5 RF lenses) was the inherent high degree of light fall off due to the rear element proximity to the film plane. This is why Zeiss came out with their optional 2 stop gradient filter for the 15/8 Hologon which had the same problem. Now it can be fixed with digital post processing but before that, it was best fixed in the darkroom. Not very good if projecting slides. The only advantage of the 21/3.4 SA is the uncoupled RF near focus to 16". It's a beautiful piece of glass and mechanical perfection of Leica but made obsolete in my opinion after the introduction of the ZM 21/4.5 Biogon.
