I am still looking for a Super Ang downunder here.... did see a zeiss biogon 21mm f2.8, but expensive at $1500AU cash. enjoy your respective weekends !

it was optimized to 1.5 or rather the receipt says:
"Flange Focal Distance Adjusted"

Having Problems in shooting Wide Open
I sent the Sonnar to a rep in the USA
who sent the lens to Germany to be tweaked
It was then mailed back to the rep who then mailed it to me via Fed EX ....:eek:....at NO Cost !!!
I was the second owner of this lens and quite surprised that this was ALL covered under Warranty.

Needles to Say: I am Grateful and Floored by the OUTSTANDING Service Zeiss bestowed upon Me...:D

Very cool, I am surprised that they adjusted a Japanese lens in Germany. How's the lens now? Perfect!
 
I gave up my beloved 50cron for the 21SA... hopefully... i will like it.

and now i am in search for the 50lux.

and looking forward to your C sonnar photos

I just got the 21sa from the mail. have been playing with it. Just notice that with M6ttl.85 I can only focus to 0.6m the closest. is it becuase my M is x.85 version? I assume a x.58 M body can do the closest focus of 0.4m with the 21sa. (I only own this m6ttl.85, so i don't have experience with other body) I remember when I use the VC15 4.5 i can focus to 0.4m.
I know that when i get closer, there will be parallex error and probably guessing frame and focus will be a better idea. But i Just want to know. If 21sa work better on a .58 body.

I think the bodies only allow focusing to a certain distance. The lens will do more, but you can only get down to .6 meters.

Then, how did i get my vc15 focus to 0.4m? i may be wrong. Sold the vc15 awhile ago. so I can't play with it to find out.
 
My SA focusses down to .4 meters too. the rangefinder just stops at .7 meters, so you have to guess the distance. AFAIK, no Leica body will focus closer than .7 meters (the coupling arm just can't move further forward) but I might very well be mistaken
