I liked the two b&w shots the best..

Hmmm.. Your sig changed.. So the 23 has become your standard lens I c :). Still looking for the right 3 fixed focal lengths or are u now set?

I used to make claims like that. It only took me about thirty five years to accept that this week's favourite camera/lens/squeaky toy will be next week's entry on eBay.

In the meantime, my bargain Canon FD 50/1.8 is flavour of the week...

I just picked up the 23(35), and I'm loving it, too.

I might have preferred a 16(24)-35(50) set up, but Fuji's lens line up practically forces speed demons into choosing 23(35)-56(85).

35-85 is really good for people, however; much better than 24-50.

The 23 focuses much faster than the 35. I'm sure that recent comments by Fuji about updating lens designs refer at least to the 35, a great lens in its own right, but one that could sure use a little update.

if a 16 appears then it will be a 16/23/60 kit…for now, it's a 23/60 kit with the 16-50 available for wide when needed/wanted.
i quite like the 16-50 zoom.

not liking that word, 'claim'…for now this is the lens that hits home for me.
i like pretty much everything about it!

i'm not missing the 35 at all…and the 60 is fast enough for me…though the 56 does have it's appeal for sure!

Yes, I agree about the Fuji 23mm F1.4. I'm enjoying it as well. Wonderful build and image quality; focuses fast and while not silent, the sound you hear when it focuses is no problem at all.

I just picked up a 23mm f/1.4 last month and as 35mm is my favorite focal length, it's seen a lot of use. I'll upload a few examples to flickr tonight and share them here.

The lens is sharp wide open and absolutely epic past f/4. The 23mm is more than sufficiently sharp wide open (although I'm no pixel-peeper, it's ever so slightly less sharp than the 35mm). Actually, the 35mm seems to yield better microcontrast wide open, which helps reinforce the illusion the 23mm isn't as "sharp." I notice hints of coma ("swirl") in some of the shots when used wide-open on a subject 2-5m away. Transition to OOF is smooth and beautiful. The coma is subtle and I enjoy the signature quite a bit.

Personally, I love the fact that Fuji seems to have designed this lens with consideration for both sharpness and "feel" or signature. Modern lenses aspire for flawlessness and that's awesome in some ways, but often too sterile for my taste. The 23mm seems to a great compromise between signature and performance. It's definitely become my go-to lens in the short time it's been with me!

shots One, Three and Four Do IT for me ...:D
