24 x 93 panorama camera

Hi all,

yesterday i was at a camera fair in Munich Germany, and met a Mr. Graumann, who makes these cameras in his "shop". U can check them out at http://panoramakameras.de/. Unfortunately the site is only in german, but u can get the idea of what its all about.

In short Mr.Graumann uses the bodies of Fed, Mamiya, Praktika, Nimslo which he modifies after which he mounts 6x9 lenses on them, for example a Schneider Super-Angulon 1:5,6, 47mm. The cameras are very well made and cost about 1300-1400 €.

I find it remarcable to meet people like this so I thought I'd share. I hope I dont get a red flag for posting the pic below, which is taken from Mr.Graumann's site, but we are among friends here, soooo...

Anyway, I'm thinking about getting one 🙂

well only whats on his site, its basically a wider pano, making it almost 4:1 width:height ratio. Xpan is around 2,75:1.

Also I might add that although the Xpan lenses are superb, I would expect that the Schneider Angulons are even better.

Hmmm ... can you get it without the meter & double bracket to save a few dollars?

lol, it would be actually the other way around, 1300€=1785$, but since world economic crises still looms, id try to get a deal done hehe

also, here is a pic of the 6x12 camera, and of a slide projector for the 35mm camera which Mr.Graumann also makes. For all those who cant understand german, there are also stereoscopic cameras available. Really beautyful engineering.

I was never very good at math ... 17 skins is a bit much for a homemade camera, at least for me.

These are very interesting camera's. If only they weren't so expensive, I would love to get my hands on one. I wish I had the technical prowess to do something like this myself, it would certainly be really useful to have. I was wondering if anyone ever reads any of the reviews on angies list to find a good photographer? I am needing to hire someone soon and would like to know if it would be worth the trouble to read these reviews? How reliable are they? Thanks for you help on this.

Mr. Graumann is a remarkably guy. 12 years ago I bought my first enlarger from him. When I picked it up he showed me his shop where he manufactures his cameras. Very impressive.
When you think these cameras are expensive just look up the price for a used super Angulon 47mm and add many hours of work.

That 24x93 is really sweet looking. I like the projectors too, those are really unique. Panorama and stereo projectors are rare beasts. I also think his prices are quite reasonable, even when disregarding that they are custom cameras hand-built in Germany.
Has anyone checked prices of xpan, technorama or horseman cameras lately?

I think $1700 is a very reasonable price, compared with other products in the extra wide format..like the 624 Gaoersi is around US$1300 without a lens. Especially, if the camera is reliable and the builder seems likely to stick around for some years if a repair or nudge is needed.

Any idea how much he wants for the projector or how to get in touch with him reliably?
