My wife just bought herself a X100.
Since we file our original raw images old school in folders YYYY - MM - DD
We also name de files YYYY-MM-DD-time. For consitancy sake I would love to save the files in 24hr time format. But I can't figure out how to change the time in the X100 from AM/PM to 24hr. format

She looks pretty happy :D. GoNe out shooting w/ it yet? There is a thread on the x100 sub forum about the recommended settings to use. if I happen across the thread I will post it here. Good luck and have fun w/ it...

Yes she took the camera and dog to the beach and marina today. Ended up comparing with her iPhone 5 shots... Turns out she had the camera in "Velvia" setting. Nice but on a bright summer day at the Pacific ocean might not be the best choice..
We did notice that the shots are not sharp at infinite. Have to check this out...

Please share the thread about the settings. As the search function in this forum still puzzles me...

I have noticed that the af can sometimes get confused in terms of infinity focus. Right now not sure why. So long as u have the distance scale active, u can double check. It is simple matter to go to mf and dial infinity. Looking at the distance scale is an habit it got into with the contax g2 and the 90mm lens combo :(.

Make sure u format the sd card in the camera every time u remove it from your computer. Fuji firmware does not seem to like some of the extra stuff modern os an leave in the file system.

Anything closer than arms length go to evf to get accurate af focus. The latest firmware has fix most focusing issues related to this but something I still do..

The exposure index of the earlier cameras were easy to rotate when putting/taking out of camera bag, but I have heard the later ones have stronger retention.. Still something to double check.

As for the settings, if I cannot find the thread, I will check my x100...

Have fun

Here are my changes to defaults

Here are my changes to defaults

I haven't come across the thread I was thinking about, but on other hand here are changes from my camera.

Iso - 200
Auto iso - on, min shutter 100, max iso 3200
Image - raw or raw+jpg when using b&w
Color - mid
Hi-lite tone - mid-soft (mainly when shooting jpg+raw to retain more info)
Shadow tone - mid-hard ( same as above)
Noise reduction - low (I am trading off noise for sharpness as Iso goes up)
Image display - off (don't want to chimp on every shot)
Long exp nr - on
Corrected af frame - on
