A truely excellent lens for micro 4/3 worthy of the name Summilux with it's sharp rendition, high contrast and creamy bokeh even though it's made by Panasonic based on Leica's design. This example was f/1.4 at the minimum focus of 12". Rendering is closer to the 50 mm ASPH version instead of the pre-ASPH with an effective DOF as a 50 mm @ f/2.8 in 35 mm format terms. It's the fastest AF lens available in this format to date. My critical USAF resolution chart tests indicate sharpness is virtually unchanged from center to edge shot wide open clocking out at 56-50 lp/mm. Only at the extreme corner is resolution slightly reduced due to a little astigmatism. I strongly suspect resolution performance would be even better if the camera was not limited to just 16MP on my OMD EM-5. Attached are a slightly cropped and tightly cropped image of the same shot. Built quality is excellent with buttery smooth MF action and silent lightning fast AF operation.
