I'm almost cured.
Is $250 for a really good Summarit a good price? Quick responses appreciated.

If it's really good (clean, no haze, unscratched), yes.

Thanks Richard! I took too long and it sold.
Do I really need a Summarit? Probably not.

What kind of question is that?

Whatever it costs, it needs a loving home and someone who understands it.

And now everyone knows how easily I was swayed.... it starts off with just a few LTM items, and before long you're all hopped up on M bodies and then next thing you know you're main-lining M lenses like there's no tomorrow..

Sorry this is late, but I just paid $300 for a bgn grade Summarit at keh. So the $250 looks darn good to me. I've been hunting one for awhile and resigned myself. Except for the infrequent outlier that I just couldn't glom fast enough, prices ranged from around $300 to near $400 on flea-bay and elsewhere. Mine looks okay - some haze, though. Am planning for a CLA after I take it for a drive.
I missed an M-mount copy about a month ago for about $300, darn.

Good to know, thanks. I was able to buy one for $250 from a seller in Australia.

I guess this means that I should have hopped on the $195 BIN summitar I saw on eBay a week or so ago? It was supposed to be a 7-day auction, but somebody bought it with 6 days, 23 hours to go. Looked to be in pretty good shape, except for minor haze in one interior element. I considered it briefly, but being leica-averse, decided not to let the thought that I could very easily sell it for more than I paid for it get the best of me.

Special filters? I thought I'd wrap teflon plumber's tape on my 40.5 filters.
The proper hood looks nice, but costs over $100.
Use 40.5mm filters on my LTM Summarit. One wrap of Teflon tape around the filter threads and it works fine. I bought a Series VI adapter for the M-Mount Summarit. It has a repaired filter thread so I can keep changing them to a minimum.

Don't be too hasty..... Summarits come in several types........
Some take bayonet filters, some have conventional threads......
and you can get converters from one type to another.......
There are conventional hoods that fit some.........
I've got an M-bayonet mount Summarit somewhere.......I was going to have a look at it to check, - but I can't find it at the moment, - sorry......
Perhaps , if you haven't received your Summarit yet, you don't yet know the exact configuration ?????
