25mm external viewfinders

I have both CV and Zeiss 25 finders, and have compared them on the Zeiss Ikon. The Zeiss 25 finder quite surprisingly is really very accurate in terms of giving me a photo that is darn close to what I saw. Now that's a bit easier when I'm talking about landscapes, but nevertheless....The CV is quite a bit more of a guessing game.

On the other hand, of course, there's the immense difference in price. The Zeiss one is the price of a damn camera by itself. I was stupid to get it but....man it looks good sitting atop the ZI. M-mm.

julian, is there much difference, in what you see, between the external finders and using the entire fov in the zi finder for the 25?

is using an external finder over the entire fov of the camera finder worth the price of the cv finder?

25mm fov

25mm fov

Yes the 25mm fov is definitely larger than the whole finder on the ZI, particuarly at the sides. If I had to guess what the fov of the Zeiss Ikon internal finder is, I'd say 26-27mm (the 28mm framelines are pretty close to the edge of the finder).

I have the 25mm CV brightline external finder and have looked at the Zeiss. Zeiss is much nicer, much nicer looking, brighter and more correct. imo, external finders suck overall and I'm going to just live with the internal finder when using 25mm.
