25mm viewfinder as a 15mm D viewfinder?

Does anyone use the 25mm viewfinder for the 15mm lens on the R-D1... by the maths of 1.5 it should be reasonable.. possibly the full extent of the viewfinder will equal the 22.5mm actual FOV of the cropped 15mm lens..

I'm just wondering on the potential of such a thing, though seeing as i wear glasses, its always a bit harder to see the entire area of a viewfinder anyways.

Any thoughts?

I have the 25mm VC and the 21mm Zeiss finder. I much prefer the 21mm being real "tight" the way I like it. However, the Zeiss is 3 times the price of the CV but the eyerelief and lack of barrow distortion makes it worth it to me. The 25mm doesnt show the entire FOV that you will get on the sensor but many people prefer this.

I've been thinking the same way. When I get my 15mm I'll make sure to inform everyone. I just don't know when I'll have the money for that 15mm. 😛

I've been using the 15 with the CV 21 finder. It is tight, but very usable. I usually think of the margin as being the thickness of the frameline. That is, I frame just inside the framelines by the width of the framline at each edge.

I just discovered something kind of cool. I took a picture _thru_ my Zeiss 21mm finder to see if that would capture the image I see with my eye. Much to my surprise, it did. I had to screw around with different focal length lenses but the VC25mm/4 @ F16 finally did the job. The picture shows exactly what I see with the eye, framelines and all. Then I compared it with a shot taken with the 15mm from the same spot. The results confirmed what I say with the naked eye.

BTW * You have to use a small apeture....I don't know why.

Speaking of viewfinders, I use the combo mini CV 28/35 VF with my Leica 21mm lens. The FOV is roughly in the middle of the two sets of framelines.
