The framelines in my 25mm snapshot skopar viewfinder are no longer in horizontal position, probably due to a shock. Anybody familiar with this problem ? Can this be fixed ?

kind regards,

Yeah, I've had it happen and its easy to fix. Mine also happened after a shock. Just get a phillips head jewellers screwdriver and undo those two little screws either side of the foot, then gently pull it apart.

The framelines are on the rear element, so you most likely just have to straighten those up, but you might also want to straighten up the mirrored piece. Look through the finder before you put it back together just to make sure it looks right, then put it back together gently so as to avoid knocking your line up job out of line. Check again, then crank those screws.

The element with the lines on it has to have a particular side outward, but don't worry; it doesn't fit in the housing too well the wrong way, so you'll figure it out. The frame in the mirrored one is slightly off centre, I think it goes in so its off centre down towards the shoe (if not, mine still worked fine this way 😉 ).

Avoid super glue; I lost patience in the end because it kept moving (don't think I was tightening those screws enough) and decided to use some super glue and it messed up the coating on the glass and fogged it. Took a bit of buffing.

Don't know why they couldn't've squared off some of those elements.

I had a similar problem pretty much out of the box, no bumping that I remembered. I fixed it once or twice and didn't dare to glue it. Eventually sent it back to store where I purchased it, and it was replaced with a new one. If you purchased it new your best bet might be to contact the store and tell them what's going on.

Thanks for the tips. The problem is solved by simply opening the finder and turning the lens which has the framelines. Not the most accurate way, but it works.
