I have no experience with the R4 finder and no shop has the Bessas in-store to actually handle them. At least here (bigger city).

So to all R4 users, do you think you could critically focus a 28/2 lens wide open or would you have to stop down?

The 28f2.0 Ultron works very well on the R4M/A. It has a freestanding 28 frame - no other framelines show!!!!
As for focussing accuracy, I have had no problems. It is after all a wide-angle and seems to "pop" right into focus, even at f2.0.
The R4 works well with the lenses it is intended for,21/25/28 and 35. I feel that the 50 is an "emergency" set of frames only. You can use them, but critical focussing with fast 50 is a bit tricky. That said, I have used it with both the ZM Sonnar 50f1.5 and the Asph Summilux 50 without any major problems.
