How many lens should i take?
What focal lengths?

Peru & Bolivia trip.
Leica swapped my M8 for an M9 yesterday, so what i thought i would take, i am not quite so sure about now.

I have only taken 2 Pics with the loan camera so far.
Anything i should know about the M9? As an M8 user?

I have;
15mm C.V. 25mm CV. 35mm Summarit (Already in the bag)
50mm 1.5 CV. 90mm CV 90mm Elmar.

I was thinking 15,35 & 50.
Not sure if i will need a 90mm?

All thoughts appreciated.

I have attached a Pic of my colleague's van outside the Leica
store which may be of interest to "White van" Drivers

Not their customers usual mode of Vehicular Transportation.

EE,
that depends on what you usually shoot. If you are more into landscapes then in this mountainous area I would also take the 25. If you focus more on portraits then the 90 could come in handy. You fill the frame and don't have to crop from a 50mm shot.
35 and 50 should cover 90% of your shots, just a rough guess ...

Phew! I'd take the lot. ESPECIALLY the 90 for mountain landscapes -- FAR more use than a WA in my experience. After all, neither the 15 or the 90 is big, and they don't eat much. I might drop the 25, or take it instead if the 15, but that's just me..

But, as Klaus says, a tremendous amount depends on what you normally shoot. And on exactly where you're going.

Cheers,

R.

I'd take 28/50/90 but since you dont have a 28 go for the 25/50/90 combo... nothing wrong with that.

I really wonder why people start these threads. you'd even be fine with just the 35 summarit.

better ask your spine what lenses you're allowed to bring ;)

My choice would be 15-35-90 (the 90 CV, unless the Elmar you refer to is the Makro). Close to my typical outfit of 21-35-90. YMMV of course. But that pretty much lets you cover it all. Unless you're an inveterate 50mm shooter, I don't think you'll miss it, and the M9 has enough resolution you can always crop the 35 shots. Likewise crop the 15's if what you really need is a 25mm FOV for a specific shot.

Personally I'd just take the 25mm, 35mm & 50mm but then I don't like ultra wides or teles. Whatever you do, take more than one camera body. From experience I can say that even Leicas break down occasionally ;-)
