28mm black & chrome?

I'm interested in acquiring a Nikkor 28mm f3.5. I read that the optics are the same in chrome and black barrels, but that they differ in weight because chrome is brass and black is alloy.

Is the heavier chrome version more durable / less subject to wear? Or, no real difference in this respect?

I also understand that the later ones (both finishes) have wider/equal spacing of the aperture stops. Would a later one perhaps have better coating?

I've owned both versions. No significant difference in construction quality. The older lenses sometimes disassemble a little more easily (ie., the front element unscrews when all you want to do is change aperture). The new black version would show wear more easily than the chrome version, but the chrome versions also get pitted and scuffed ... the coatings did change over time. There may have been some minor improvement, but I doubt it would manifest itself in actual image quality. Rather, I think they were simply improving the process.

I have tried out both versions , I think the chromes are built like bricks heavy duty
the black version because of the lighter aluminum body is lighter in weight and is easier
to focus with the focusing ring or focusing wheel.
