28mm elmarit asph? Opinions please..

The 28mm version IV, the 28 Summicron, and the 28 Elmarit-M ASPH are all outstanding performers. You cant go wrong with any of them.

Any mention of the version IV Elmarit should also include a nod to the M Hexanon 28mm - same lens design, reportedly equal performance (one French magazine even rated it higher), and around half the price ($650USD range)

I love mine. For me it's what RF cameras are all about - small size, great build quality and very sharp. I couldn't live with the size of the 'cron if using it solely on film. It I were to have an M8 I'd appreciate the extra speed of the 'cron because I'd use it more like a normal lens, which I like fast, plus less of the frame would be obscured by the hood.

Get it while the rebate is still in effect. I found one at a local dealer that was older stock, so at a cost previous to the price increase. That, with the rebate and a trade-in (try and do THAT with an online store) allowed me to pick up the lens very cheaply. Cheaper than used in fact, for my first ever new Leica lens!
Yep, it's super sharp, compact and very flare resistant. It's a perfect outdoors lens.

I've only been most favourably impressed by it. It delivers great punch and 3D rendering with selective focus, which I very much like. There's nothing wrong with its bokeh.
