2month+ old Xtol badly kept - is it dead yet?

I've had some mixed xtol sitting in a half full 5L sealed container for 2 to 3 months.
Is there any point in giving it a try or will it be dead by now.

Kodak give it a 2 month life like this - is that conservative or pretty accurate in your experience?

Easy way to check:

Snip a couple shots off a roll that you don't care much about, or shoot a couple shots for no particular reason, and develop it.

You don't even really need to go through the canister business...if you have a dark room, just pour the chem's in a bowl, and agitate the snip with some tongs, as if it were paper.

If the developer's bad, it doesn't matter, and if it's still good, you haven't totally wasted it, and ditto on the film.

I just did exactly that...
Was testing Rollei IR400 for the first time.. wasn't sure how to expose it, wasn't sure how to develop it, and thought maybe yet another variable wouldn't help (i.e. the state of the developer).
But on first check while it's drying it seems to be none-too-disastrous.
