Bought this camera via Ebay put a new seal and battery. The first roll I shot was Tri-X witch turned out very nice. This time I tried Fuji Astia 100 slide film. Had some trouble reeling back the film because I ripped the film from the cartridge while trying to squeeze one more shot out of it :bang:
During my attempts to reel the film back de door opened :bang::bang:
Most shots are showing some exposure from this but still I am very pleased with the results!
Amazing what a $20 (well + $20 to restore it...) and a roll of film can do!

Now I need something interesting to shoot

I also have my shots on flickr:

Hi Rogier,

It's good to hear of someone else getting excellent results with a vintage Electro 35 GSN. They are amazing for the price.
Where did you get yours restored for $20? All the repair shops I've contacted want a lot...quite a bit more than what I paid for the camera. Mine is in mint shape and very clean but I may get the film-advance anomaly checked/repaired.

Regards,

David

All I did was to put a new light seal kit from the Yashica Guy and a battery replacement from Ebay together was like $20 and one hour easy work.

With regards to your film advance problem you mention in your other post. I would not hesitate to take the thing apart. You might want to get an other one really cheap that you know is broken already to practice taking apart.

I already bought a spare and planning on getting some more. Would be fun to give one with a roll of film to a kid and send them on a mission :)

Hi Rogier,

Thanks for the link to Matt Denton's repair page. I may give it a try. I don't have any spanners though. I'll look on eBay to see if anyone has any for sale.
Which battery(s) do you use? I'm trying four 675 1.4-volt zinc-air cells and a small spring. It works but the battery-check light dims pretty quickly, so not much reserve. I may try two CR2 3-volt lithium batteries...they are more substantial, and lithium cells have a good steady voltage.

Regards,
David

Micro-tools sells spanners and other camera repair tools..

A 544 battery (same used in Canon AE-1) with the adapter works better..
