Thought today just for fun I would take 3 shots of my wife, one with each lens. A Noctilux, 50 Cron, and an OLD 135 F4.5 Hektor I bought for $100. Same subject, same lighting - I was testing for color rendition and the Noct won me over...

1st shot Noctilux, 2nd Cron, 3rd 135 and the 4th is one more from the Noctilux...

Firstly Steve, if I may say so, your wife has sparkly eyes quite unlike anything I've seen before. Wow.

The Noctilux should have poems written about it, or at least a documentary done about it. Mesmerizing. The Hektor, though, looks real good...not bad at all! The cron...very sharp, of course.

But judging by the last shot, picture time is over, as it looks as though you're about to be put to work at trimming a shrubbery. 🙁

The Noct produces a kind of strong swirly effect in the background, which I don't like. The Hektor really surprises me with very natural bokeh.

Absolutely loved these shots and I agree the catchlight make her eyes sparkle. My favs are the 135, summicron, noctilux.

Ronald,

The lighting was the same for all 3. She stood in the same spot and it took me about 2 minutes to shoot all three. All taiken with her in the same exact spot. I was surprised by the 135 as I just picked it up locally at my dealer for $100. Figured it would be soft but it is VERY sharp. Thanks for the comments.

All were with M7

All were with M7

I actually sold my RD1 a while ago (wish I would have kept it) - so all of these were with the M7 - scanned on a Nikon coolscan V

Thinking I wouldn't use it very much in the digital age, I sold my 135 Tele-Elmar to build up cash for the pending M8 purchase. Now I'm thinking that I'll be looking for a clean bayonet 135 Hektor. Might be fun to fool around with its new effective F/L of 180mm on the M8. A borrowed Hektor two years ago delivered an amazingly sharp shot of a small boat in the Victoria harbor.

Your Hektor shot gets my vote.
