Today is the 30th anniversary of the introduction of martial law in Poland.
One of the most important images of that day. Probably I have not seen more symbolic image.
Chris Niedenthal and his "Apocalypse Now":

Wow, that is some juxtaposition! Are those lions guarding the entrance to the movie theatre? I also wonder if the movie theatre is still there, maybe with a different name?

Excellent capture, the theatre name gives the overall picture...i didn´t know american films could be seen in those countries...here there was an extraordinary amount of films banned by the political committees formed by military´s wives...

Cinema "Moskwa" has gone away
and we have in this place .... shopping mall (of course!) with modern cinema.
but "Moscow", "Apocalypse Now" and the tank is still alive for each new generation.

I first visited Poland in 1968. My father was Polish. I can remember it was so different from the UK. I was 16 at the time. I remember all my Polish relatives hated the occupation. Poland is so different now to what it was then. The image here is I agree very symbolic.
