I've just noticed that the 1.2's price on Cameraquest has went up from $879 to $1199! Ouch... I'm glad I got mine for the old price tag.

That's the yen rate catching up, it was inevitable. The 35/1.2 sells for more here used than Stephen was selling it for new. I bet your happy to have just saved over $300!

I think it might be more than just the yen rate. With the supply of this version of the lens drying up, there might be a run on this lens soon.

Cheers,

Damn, that put a big dent on the decision I had made to pick one up in the coming weeks. Some other's still have it for 979, but they'll probably hike it too. Bummer.

Wow, I'm glad I bought mine. It's a fantastic lens, even at the higher price, although maybe I'd be more tempted to save up for a used lux if I were buying again...

Well, if it's the yen - why does it only affect the 35mm Nokton f/1.2?

For instance, the 50mm Nokton f/1.1 is still $999.

I suspect as stock runs out and must be replenished the price goes up. The 50/1.1 isn't exactly flying off the shelves...

Maybe Stephen will chime in or someone could just ask him.

Stephen gave a heads-up on a coming price increase months ago. He stated that prices would go up as existing stock was depleted, and that the dollar had dropped by 20% at that time. With all the 35/1.2 talk on the forum- I'm guessing his stock was depleted!

Also the 50 1.5 nokton is $699 now i got mine for $499 in august its not in production anymore though so that kind of makes sense i think its probably worth that price though anyway.

Yea, I saw that the 50mm Nokton f/1.5 price went up too. The problem with that one is that it puts the Zeiss Planar and the Nokton with the LTM-->M adapter at the same price-point. I wonder how many will shell out approx. $760 for a Nokton when they can get the Zeiss for $20 more? (I am not saying that the Planar is the clear choice here, but so much of what we buy is about perception of quality, not actual performance.)

Who knows... maybe Voigtlander will launch a new 1.2 in a size more like the 1.4 keeping the same very highly regarded IQ (that'd be sweet!)

Hmmm, crap, and I just sold my nearly new one, for $800 or so. Needed to pay for new toys, but sure liked mine for the short time I had it.

....Vick

well, nothing really surprises me these days but i have a hard time seeing cosina discontinue that lens...unless thay have something 'better' in the works...
