you mean barrel distortion? that one was @f8
yes, the 1st version I had was terrible, this looks nearly perfect, interesting because Cosina didn't mentioned they fixed this.

I didn't touched the barrel distortion in lightroom, so I think that's a very good result.
As I imagined, shift focus is negligible on film, also @f4

The lack of barrel distortion is indeed very interesting.
I have used extensively the Nokton 40mm f1.4, and never noticed any focus shift, even at f1.4 (I haven't used it on digital though). After selling the R3A, I wanted to buy the Nokton 35mm but finally decided not to, solely because of the barrel distortion.
For some weird reason, I find the pincushion distortion less annoying than the barrel distortion.
Thanks for sharing the samples, luuca.

...it will be a good lens for my M9, where only f4 may take a bit of compensation. I'll stick with the Summarit 35 on my M10.
Any chance to see it on M9?

Yay! Real print!!!
But, common, anyone with guts to take it on digital M? What are you afraid of? To realize what Lux is the dud?

I get the picture anyway. Print with this toning is awesome.
I’m just surprised here isn’t much pictures with M mount new lenses on digital M anymore.

Choices all depend on the outcomes one is looking for. For me the Version ll is a keeper; but then again I also use an Elmar 35mm 3.5, & a Summaron 2.8. I've used several versions of the Summicron f2 for decades..... & would never choose a modern aspheric Summicron or Summilux. Choose whatever gives you the results you desire.

Great! I could see it on the edges, but it isn't something as scary as on the old one

I had the first version, didn't like and sold it. Replaced with Ultron 35/1.7

I don't know Ko.Fe. I don't care for the character of modern Leica lenses and besides.... i wouldn't spend $5200 USD ($7k Cnd) on a lens.

Lovely pictures Luuca especially that first one, and the last.

Hello everybody !
To everyone that bought this v2, can we have more inside or comparisons with the v1? I have a nice v1 and would be very tempted to buy a v2 if there actually are improvements in field flatness and barel distortion... But it is very hard to really figure out what's been improved or not for now !
Thanks in advance

For those who might be interested :
I purchased and just recieved a V2 SC version to be compared with my V1 SC.
First clear fact : the lens looks noticably sharper due to a flatter field of focus on my M240. It is much appreciated. It is very sharp on most of the frame from f2.8.
About the barrel distortion; my sample looks to have the exact same amount of distortion.
I will try to perform a real side by side "scientific" (on a tripod) review of the v2 to see if I can detect some more facts.
For now, I am half happy as the sharpness increase is a cool thing, but was hopping for some, even little, improvement with barrel...
Stay tuned

Hello again everyone,
Here is some very non-scientific side by side measurements between the v1 and v2 Nokton 35 1.4 SC
https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1kq7AmslAHJLLYgVDLiA4dh2-ylvTL1VF?usp=sharing
The things I noticed:
- Less distortion (from around 3%, to around 2.2%)
- Less field curvature (compare the max distances between green line and pink line in the "curv" pictures)
- A bit less focus shift at f4 (v1 is around 5th line shift on the chart. v2 is around 3rd line)
- At 1.4, both lenses are spot on.
- Bokeh of the v2 is a tad rounder on the edges.
The increased sharpness I felt before certainly comes from the better field flatness.
All in all, we can clearly observe the v2 is a greatly improved lens.
All the testings has been made with a Leica M240. On sony cameras, all of these figures will be worse because of sensor filter stack thickness of these cameras.
Cheers!
