I have a special request for anyone with the vII Nokton f1.4. I have the v1 version, and I'm wondering if the vII version is noticeably better in close up distortion.
Could someone do me a favour and post up some vII test shots with straight lines, close up (under 2ish meters) in the furthest edges of the frame similar to these?

Kostya, I did spend some time on your examples, and indeed the distortion seems to be a bit improved, but I'm looking for a full straight line right on the edge of the frame to be sure. Does in in-camera DNG correction on the digital Leica's affect distortion?

I have some railings with supporting bars on the deck. I'll try photograph them similar to yours. I will turn lens recognition, profile off and no LR correction.
For some reason, I still didn't put it on my M4-2, yet.

Wow thanks Kostya, that's just perfect. It looks like indeed the v2 version is slightly better in close up distortion but not overly so.
Regardless, it's a beautiful rendering lens in the right situations. I find my v1 sings at f1.8-f2 with people and close up subjects.

Thank you, I will try these apertures.
Here is my first DR prints from negatives taken by this lens.
I used HP5+ expired in 2009 and old Rodinal. It was little bit more tricky to print from it. I started with filter #2 and settled with #4.
Those are from Nokton 35 1.4 II wide open.

Here are two more prints from frames taken on much smaller apertures.
