so.. i broke down and found a nice 35/2 cron (3rd version) for about $700. I know.. I already have a 40-c cron... anyhow back to the question. The lens came with a shade which locks onto the lens but will spin in 360 degrees, this seems wrong, am i right? is it wrong? what's a good idea to fix it? or am I wrong?

thanks, mike

No, I think you probably have the right hood. Mine spins 360 degrees as well. It is numbered 12504 and fits both the 35 summicron and the 35 summilux.

Enjoy the lens. I really love mine.

can anyone tell me, is there a round shade to fit this CRON?

the 360 degree rotation is BUGGIN' me.

If I understand you right, your hood is not round? I've got cron 35/2 (early 70's) with vented round hood, wich is revolving as well to let you put the hole in the hood right in front of the viewfinder. Looks great🙂))

Hmm it sounds like you got a 3rd version Cron with a 4th version hood. That's a rectangular one, the 4th version lens has notches and the hood has tabs at 6 and 12 o'clock to keep the hood from rotating. The correct hood for the 3rd version (I've got one too) is the 12504, but a 12585 will fit and work fine and is cheaper and easier found.
