I just received one of these lenses and didn't realise the focus tab would bump into the frameline lever. Is it just me?

What to do? Remove the springy pin in the tab or somehow grind off the millimeter or so needed to squeeze it past the lever?

The foucs tab feels nice i dont want to remove it, but how would one do it if needed?

Or is just my adapter?
I want it to be the adapter.

Thanks

The focusing arm, aka the infinity locking lever, is easily bent. I have a 35 Elmar that is like that. You could VERY GENTLY try to bend it out a bit - toward the front of the lens - if that's the issue or you could send it out for repair and cleaning.

I may try to bend it. It's about a 1mm difference.
My no name adapter has the tread milled so infinity is at 12 o'clock. If it was at 3 o'clock the lens would extend enough for the focus arm to pass over the lever.

My experience with LTM to M adapters is that I only have trouble with aftermarket ones. The best with no problems are the actual Leica adapters. After that come the Voigtlander versions.

I've had mine on the M2 and not the M6, but it works on the M9 and Monochrom. And I bought it out of an LTM collection so it might not have touched an M before I had it.

Here is my M6 TTL with a 35 3.5 Summaron and a genuine Leica adapter.

Thanks everyone.

I will follow the lead of Pionerr and have found a genuine adapter on ebay, scratched, for a reasonable price so will try that before bending the lever.

Inwo der how much the couple of mm diffrence would make to the focus?

Thanks also for the photo madNbad.

Turn the lens to infinity and then to the minimum focus distance. How much does it extend?
A few mm? 3mm, 4mm?
That is the difference a few mm makes!
Which is what I was trying to say in post two. Of course this lens does not extend in the same way that an Elmar 5cm would, but it probably extends if you move the focus to minimum, and that may allow the lens to be mounted without catching, even with the non-Leica mount.

I really should take more time with these posts 🙂 .

A quick note to confirm that a genuine adapter fixed that problem.

Lesson learnt. Now to develop some shots with the summaron.
