35 summilux v.1?

anybody have images made with a first version 35 summilux, the one that focuses down to 26" instead of 40", at it's closest focus? curious to see how much of a difference it makes when shooting portraits or close-in subjects. do you have to use the goggles when you focus that close, or does the lens couple with normal bodies all the way down w/o the goggles? how rare is this lens? saw one on ebay today and was surprised at the asking price- somewhere around $5000...
 
For $5000 you can get a Noctlilux, M8, MP, or any ASPH lens. Often the price has virtually no bearing on the item. But if you shell out the seller would gladly take your money.
 
I don't have any images handy but I owned one for years and honestly it was horrible in the closer range. The images were close to unusable, as I remember them.
