Wow, I haven't had my C-Biogon flare like this at all...

I bet you would not be dumb enough to fully expose deep shadow with the sun just above the frame and not a cloud in the sky. None of the examples above do this either. They are either greatly underexposing the shadow, or everything is in the bright sunlight. If I were to shoot like that, my results would have also shown little flare.

Much better than it would look if taken with the 35/1.7!

And what's this all about? This is like attempting to find who farted at the Special Olympics, catching fairies by the wings, and counting angels on pin heads.
Flare is the luck of the draw, NEVER a legitimate consideration in choosing a lens to purchase and a complete denial that there are basic rules of photography.
Rule No.1: Always keep the sun behind you and over your shoulder
Rule No.2: Always fill the frame
Rule No.3: Always focus 1/3 in 2/3 out
Rule No.4: Always shoot to the slowest speed necessary make a capture

I'll buy a Flarebuster soon:
Mine (-C) hasn't flares for any important picture since now. Also I think the Threadstarter wasn't accurate enought. If, for any reason that I'm not fully understanding, you want to compare both lenses you have to do it more carefully and perhaps in a Lab with more than three simple shots per lense.
