I have the opportunity to buy a clean 35mm F2.8 Jupiter "R-12".
Is this the same lens as the "J-12"?
Is this considered to be a good lens?
Will it mount on my FED 2?
Any other favorites for an inexpensive 35mm lens that will mount on the FED 2?

I've never heard of a Jupiter R-12, but I could imagine, since the lens is usually labeled JUPITER-12, that someone just misread it. My guess is that it's the same lens.
You have to take care that it's in LTM (=M39=screw) mount, not in Contax (=Kiev) mount. Then, it should mount on the FED-2. It's the cheapest 35mm by far, and it's a decent lens.

I dunno what a "R-12" is. If it is a J-12 in LTM, buy it. Good lens for little money. Next cheapest would be perhaps a CV 35/2.5 Color Skopar "Classic".
