35mm focus ring - hard point

Dear all
Last week end, while cruising around with my MP + 35mm f2, the camera decided to drop from my shoulder and hit the floor 🙁 . Hopefully, it happened when I was bending to get something from the floor, therefore the fall was not that high. There are no mark at all on the camera nor the lens. But now, there is a hard point on the focus ring.
I wonder if it is an important damage. Will it - according to your experience - affect image quality (focus). And is it repairable?

This means that the lens mount could be out of round.

It should be repaired. Otherwise the extra grinding will cause problems for the lens.

Send it to a pro Leica repairer if you value the lens.

Sorry to hear about the accident with the camera! I assume the lens has a rough spot on the focus both on and off the camera. Is it covered by Leica's "passport" warranty?

I would have the lens, and camera, checked over.

Thanks all for your reply. Yes, it is still under warranty. So I will have the lens checked out by a pro. Better do it early before it gets worse!

If possible try another lens on the MP, this should give you an indication of likely damage to the MP. If the lens and body are under Passport then it's possinbly worth getting the whole lot checked anyway.

If the lensmount is out of alignment on the body it can only be checked using a special tool.Just putting another lens on it will not tell you whether it should be aligned. It would be wisest to send body and lens to Leica.
Sorry to hear about the accident, but don't worry about it. This time it didn't even have a scratch. But even if it had:Mechanical damage can be repaired perfectly :angel: and any dents or scratches, well, you bought your Leica to make great pictures,not to show it off, didn't you? Dents, scratches, scuffing,these are honorable battle-scars. 😎
