i'm wondering about putting a 35mm lens, let's say a canon 35/2 ltm, on a leica cl.
i have read that full frame fov will be ok for the 35 and that the 40mm framelines are always there.

what ltm adapter would be needed for the 35/2?

if i remember correctly, brian has used a canon 50/1.5 on his cl - seen the pics, i have - and that looked like an ok set up.

so, for those who use this camera, can you share some of your experiences with it, good points and frustrations alike.

many thanks.

Did I miss something Joe ? Do you have a CL ¿?

You should remember that I used my CL (ex-Gene's) with a 35 a lot, basically with the CV35/2.5 pancake. No problems, just use the whole finder and when in doubt take the outer side of the 40 lines and play from there.

IIRC, the 40 and 50 lines are always visible, and the 90 ones do pop up with a 90 adapter. You can also mask the frame illuminator window.

If you have followed some of my life with the CL, you'll know there's no frustration at all for me. And I found the finder to be really good as well, btw. I only missed a bit more of bluish tint on it (you know I like that).

So... tell us !!

BTW, Karen Nakamura used a Canon 35/2 on her CL.

Are you looking for a pristine one, Joe?

My banged up CL works great with the 40mm Rokkor/Summicron, a collapsible Fed lens (I-10) but not the 50 Elmar which is longer/deeper, and a CV25. Never tried it with a 35 because I have the 40, but it would work no problem (except for framing issues. 35 would be wider than the 40mm frame but not quite out to the edges of the finder, I don't think.

i don't have one on hand but perhaps in the future.
of all my lenses i see the 35/2 as perfect for the cl, kinda made for each other.

;)

Use the 40 frameline and you won't cut off people's heads or feet. Using the whole viewfinder is a bit dodgy because you can see more than the lens if you move your eye side to side.

the most i carry is 2 bodies with lenses attached and maybe an extra lens.

on my regular saturday afternoon strolls on whyte it's usually one body and my pick of the 35's.

frank, what adapter do you use?

i want only the 40mm fl to show so would i use an adapter for 35?

The 40 and 50 framelines are always visible. The 90 pops up, in addition, with a 90mm screw to m adaptor. For a 35 lens you could use a 28, 35, or 50mm adaptor.

On the two I've had, both the 40mm and 50mm frames show up when either the 40 or the 50 are installed. Furthermore, Sherry Krauter overhauled the newer one, so I have to assume that it's a normal trait for some of the production variants.

Someone snap on an M 35mm lens and tell us what happens. (or ltm lens with 35mm adaptor)

Sorry, I jsut put my 90 Elmar on the CL for the first time and the 50mm frame disappeared and the 90mm frame appeared, and the 40mm frame stayed.
