Yes, I took that picture while on vacation on Ocracoke island off the North Carolina Coast. I think I paid around $500 for mine. It was graded Excellent + at KEH. There are different versions. If you get the M3 version, it must be used with the "eyes" on all M cameras in order to focus properly. The M2 version focusses correctly (without "eyes") on all M cameras.

a canon 35/2.8 with finder & case sold yesterday for almost 400 bucks.
that's an insane price.

i suggest we close this forum down for a month and stop talking about this stuff and mayybe prices will settle dowm a bit!!

I almost fainted when I saw the ending price of that Hexanon... But then, I also patted myself on the back: "good boy!"

I don't have any experience with the 35mm hexanon, but the results by others that I've seen look nice.

I have the 35/2 summicron 4th version and at $600 I think that's a bargain if the glass is good and the mechanics are alright. There is nothing bad that one can say about this lens, IMO. It's small, sharp (enough for just about anybody), not too contrasty, and the out of focus rendering is truly pleasing and gives a nice 3D look.

From what I've seen, I wouldn't trade this lens for ANY other 35mm M-mount lens (ASPH or not)!

Oh yeah, I would like to second FrankS: the 40mm Summicron-C or M-Rokkor are just about the same quality-wise as the 4th generation 35mm Summicron. I have used all three of these lenses. The 40mm lenses are TRULY BARGAINS for the quality you get for about $250.

The only hitch is the lack of 40mm framelines on the Leica M's. Not a huge deal once you learn to mentally compensate. Anyway, there's always the R3a and CLE to consider...
