My Summicron 50 v4 flared for one shot late in the day diagonally across a bay, from a cliff top, sun from the left, low in the sky, partially through trees, never once in the previous 20 years or in the 20 years since.
It flares too, more than the 35 ASPH. In more predictable circumstances (mostly light directly onto the front element) but more often. Those Zeiss ZMs are very good for flare. Everything else in M 35mm land is worse.
