Hi all,
Haven't posted in here for a while since I got an M9 and been focused on that camera for some time. I did a wild RV trip with a gang of skateboarders traveling from secret parks in the woods, to the oldest skatepark in the world, and ending out on Daytona beach. I took my ragged RD-1 (still cannot get the gauges to work :() for fear of exposing the M9 to basic rowdiness and police fire-hoses.

Mostly candid stuff of some note-worth people the skate world, as this was just an exercise in documenting the 36 hours with a fun bunch of hooligans. You can view the entire slideshow here: http://nortega.com/robin-the-weekend-away/

Hope you all can dig, I figure it was worth posting for this image alone:

It's a really great picture.

About your set : I love the colors. What's the lens?
It's funny to see skaters sometimes aren't young boys :)
I live in France, I feel the places and the people are exotic, a foreign planet
BW pictures don't convince me completly - not my BW taste.
The editing is clever, maybe there's too pictures - I would reduce it a bit (10 pictures less?)
Thanks for sharing!

woah, such a great collection of shots, and sure looks to have been an epic trip!
hard to believe this was all done with the RD-1 and Rokkor 40mm. really impressive and makes me want to break out my Epson to shoot right away...

RD-1 and a horribly bargain grade M-Rokkor 40/2 (but with near mint optics & iris :D) on everything. I barely packed at all.

Yeah, one stop on the trip was to the Skateboarding Hall of Fame Inductions, so there were some old timers out to roll!

I was struggling with the textures the B&W processing, as that what was interesting to me at the secret park in the woods. The beach stuff feels very flat by comparison. But that is just he nature of the journey and the light. I tried to push the colors into an extreme Kodacrome world in the secret park section, to make it feel like a dream place... because frankly, it was amazing. I wish I had brought a wide lens to take it all in.

Oh, for a formal presentation of the journey I'd edit down to maybe 10 easy, but right now I've got everyone from the trip wanting to see every pic I took. Hell, I might be adding to the deck, ha ha!

Thanks for the comments guys, it's nice to be back "home" in the RD-1 section. I forgot how nice it is to not have Jaapv calling me an idiot after every post, like in the Leica side.

Great stuff! Love the colors. I still love my R-D1 and think it's a great image making tool. I much prefer it to my 7D for anything except nature stuff.

Really enjoyed it. That first spot you guys went to was really amazing. Good to see so many old timers out there! Not that anyone was old or anything. :)
