let me be more precise
Got a hexar body, that a leica m mount,
got a cosina-voigtlander ring adaptor LTM on leica M
Now i have this ring that fits inside the LTM 39mm
All that let me put a minolta md lens on a leica m mount body.
What i do not now : will the focussing be good, that iswith guessing
the distance and stepping down the aperture to avoid being out of focus
The ring exist so i presume it was made because the minolta md lens
works on a LTM body or in my case a leica M body, well a hexar RF....
I would prefer to now before wasting a roll
Many thanks
Sorry, let me try again:
1) Got a hexar body, that a leica m mount
Yes, a Hexar has a Leica M lens mount. It's not EXACTLY the same, but very close.
2) got a cosina-voigtlander ring adaptor LTM on leica M
Yes, I understand that too. Lots of companies make adapters to turn LTM 39 to M.
3) Now i have this ring that fits inside the LTM 39mm
If I understand you correctly, you are saying you have an adapter that goes from your Minolta MD lens to your LTM 39mm body. I have never seen such a thing. I can image one going the other way, but not such as you describe. But I suppose one could be made. If you have one, then the appropriate question is how long is it?
Because the correct distance from the rear flange of the Minolta MD lens to the film plane is 43.50mm, and the correct distance for the Leica M mount lens is 27.95mm, then the adapter MUST BE EXACTLY 43.5mm - 27.95mm = 15.55mm long, no more and no less.
If all this is true, then yes, you can scale-focus your Minolta MD lens on a Leica M-Mount body (the Hexar you mentioned).
There is some controversy even so, because some say the Hexar and the Leica M use very small differences in flange-film distances, and so people tend not to see the lenses as interchangeable. Others have no problems with this.
I hope you find this helpful.
Is this 'ring' you talk about custom-made? Because I can find no record of such a thing existing as a product. There are plenty of adapters to go the other way, from LTM lens to M42 to Minolta MD camera body.
