4 years late, a Leica M8 at last

Actually- Polachrome used a color mask much like the Mosaic filters over Digital sensors. The Polachrome color mask was R-G-B linear.

Beautiful pictures. I am also enjoying my "new to me" M8, will be a year in January.

I'm so used to Leica's without built-in meters, the biggest "culture shock" for me was the red LED display in the viewfinder. Only then did I realize the camera had a meter. I stopped carrying the Weston 715 after the initial outing.

As usual beautiful images Colin. Since getting my M8 a couple of months ago I haven't exposed a frame of film (in contrast I've shot well over 2k rolls in the last four years). I really enjoy the camera, I really enjoy the handling in contrast to the Canon digital SLRs that I've used in the past. I find both color & black & white images simply excellent. The only thing that bothers me is the crop factor, and the IR filtering and the inability to print my images on my enlarger. Noise? Doesn't bother me at all.

if you like the Polachrome look, watch David Fincher's The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - if you haven't already.

Great story and amazing photos! And I know the feeling, I just got the M8 and I really love it, it is the first digital camera which make me shoot digital more than analog, though I still have and use my M6.

Amazing pictures. I'm sure with what we're seeing it's not really the M8 but the photographer's eyes.

Someday, it'll either be the M8 or x100 for me. For now I'll settle for my CL and Pentax k200d w the pentax pancakes for digital.

Thanks for sharing the lovely photos and your thoughts on your camera. I think you could shoot well with anything, but it sure seems you have bonded early with the M8. Your post-processing looks wonderful too.

Who'da thunk't? The too-fat, shutter-bobbled, crop-hobbled, VF-challenged, IR-permissive, now obsolete M8 enabling some very fine photography. If Colin's not careful, he'll drive the market for M8s bullish.

I remember several years ago Colin posted a series of pics here that he shot with a Yashica Electro that in many ways were more impressive than what he's posted here. Many people near fell out of their chairs when they saw them ... I know I did!

It's not the tool ... it's the photographer!
