i must be going blind or something.
i just noticed that the hood for the 40 is darkening the lower almost half of the focusing patch.
i'm not sure how i could have missed that before and am wondering if something is up.
no hood - no problem...
for those with this combo does your hood interfere also?

If you move you eye slightly up, or pull the camera slightly down, the shadow will go away. :)

i just tried that w/o success.

but i also just discovered it's when the lens is focused at the nearest distance and not at the furthest.
it happens when the frame shifts for parallax correction.
guess i don't do much close up work :)

thanks.

When I close focus I have the same problem that you described. I just replaced the CV Hood with a 43 mm screw on hood that I purchased on ebay from heavystar and it solved the problem. :D

No it has straight sides.

ok, that's the one i saw on ebay.
maybe, i'll get that one. i don't really like the cv one. it feels like it's gonna break the end of the lens off every time i take it off. (not very often) seems a poor fit.

My CV hood is a poor fit also. It is a very loose fit and too easy to take off the lens. I was afraid it was going to fall off so I bought the screw in hood. Its too bad that Consina made such a crappy hood for an otherwise high quality lens.

funny, yours is loose and mine is too tight.
maybe we should trade and see if they fit better;)

If your serious send me your mailing address now and I will go ahead and mail you my hood and you can mail your hood to me whenever your ready. I'm in no hurry.

i just read in another thread that the cv hood fits my zeiss 35 and 50 lens so i gave it a try.
and it fits great and just slid right on very smoothly. it fits both zm lens great. and when i put it back on the 40 it slid right on, very smoothly.
that's some kinda strange.
when i get the heavystar for the 40 i think i'll transfer the cv hood to the zm lens that is missing a hood.

I just inspected my CV hood and discovered that it has a very small metal pin in one of mounting grooves that was stopping the hood from locking in place. I put it back on the lens and twisted it extremely hard and it clicked in place. After working it on and off a few times it has gotten a little bit easier to put on and off. However, It still requires an awful lot of torque.

we discovered something good tonight!!

i just ordered the heavystar which i'll use on the cv 40 & cl combo and use the cv hood on my 35 or 50 zm lens. when i bought the 50 i did not order a hood thinking i could transfer the one i already had. but for 20 bucks delivered the heavystar is perfect.

it's a good night.

I too just ordered the 43mm HeavyStar vented hood for my 1.4/40, reminded that I needed one and that the CV hood is said to interfere with the CLE viewfinder... Good thread!
