40 1.4 Voigtlander, focus at infinity is off.

Just taking some photos last night. I noticed on my M2 that the 40 1.4 lens at infinity is off ever so slight on the shot side to focus at infinity in relation to the view finder. I have never noticed this with my other lens, is it the lens or my viewfinder? The camera had a CLA less that 20 rolls ago, will my photos be in focus at infinity?

It's likely just the lens if everything else you have is working fine.

How can we know? But you can check it yourself. Mount your Camera on a Tripod and put some groundglass or something similar on the film plane. Focus on an object at different know distances (e.g. 2m and infinity) and check the focus with a loupe on the glass, check the rangefinder and check the meter reading on the lens. You can check the rangefinder with a known good lens. Try at your own risk and good luck!

I added up the number of possible places that could go wrong between the lens and the film to get a RF camera focused. Honestly, it's a miracle they work at all. Today I was reading about that off-brand f/0.95 lens (name forgotten). . . . the same lens in an M mount costs several thousand bucks more if you want it RF coupled, because apparently they have to do each lens individually. That gives you an idea of the magnitude of the problem. My frustration at getting my Leicas to focus where I focused them is one of the reasons I switched to SLRs.

Unless you try it there is no way to confirm you that your images would be correctly focused.
Therer are some different option to explain your problem.

Misajusted cam on the lens or the camera
Misajusted RF
problem with the mount...

As you have other lenses that seems to behave correctly I think that the problem should be with your lens cam.

PS: The VG 40 1,4 has been initially designed by cosina for Bessa cameras with a slightly different flange, you'd better check with the serial of your lens.
