I was looking at the lens design of the Nokton, wondering how they got it to be so small & I noticed that it's almost a dead-ringer for the first pre-Aspherical 35 Summilux (1961). Does anyone have both of these or seen comparison shots with both to see similarities/differences?

I think on CVUG there's a discussion goingon about the 40 Nokton vs the 35 Nokton and 50 Nokton. There might be some interesting information in that thread for you.

Oops! I left out the key piece of information to my search, which was to find out how Cosina made such a fast lens so small. Well, the Summilux design that they appear to have copied is similarly compact @ 28 mm long. The CV 40 Nokton is a whisker longer @ 29.7 mm.

My impression from the pictures posted on the RD1 website

over the past month or so is that the two lenses have a similar look. The Nokton, however, doesn's seem to suffer from flare, whereas the Summilux looks like it has better glass, and its color rendition looks richer.
